The Beall Center is a sponsor of Democracy - The Last Campaign, a year-long project by the artist collaboration Margaret Crane/Jon Winet. The project, a creative arts multi-media documentary focusing on the 2000 elections, has evolved over the past ten months and includes coverage of the July-August Republican Party National Convention in Philadelphia and the August Democratic Party National Convention in Los Angeles.

SHIFT-CTRL was the inaugural exhibition of the Donald R. and Joan F. Beall Center for Art & Technology.

SHIFT-CTRL: A cultural examination of games, gaming and new technologies, and looked critically, yet playfully, at how they have altered social systems and creative practice.

The exhibition put a unique spin on research related to gaming activities to date, while providing alternative models for appreciating how these initiatives are affecting our social and cultural environment.

The first annual exhibition of artwork created by K-12 ArtsBridge schoolchildren opened at the University Gallery on the campus of the University of California, Irvine, in January of 2001. A competitively selected collection of paintings, sculptures, digital art, and video, the exhibition showcased the best creative efforts of over 24,000 participating California schoolchildren

An exhibition catalog has been published both in print and on the statewide UC ArtsBridge website.

UC ArtsBridge is the arts education outreach program of the University of California. The mission of UC ArtsBridge is to work in partnership with California public schools to provide high quality arts education to California's K-12 school children. UC ArtsBridge provides scholarships to qualified UC arts students, graduate and undergraduate, to teach the arts and conduct arts-related workshops in art, dance, drama, and music. In the academic year of 1999-2000 UC ArtsBridge provided high quality arts education to 23,673 public school children in over 262 schools across the state.
