"5 'til 12" Knifeandfork	January 18, 2006-March 15, 2006 Opening reception: January 17, 2006 6-9 pm Synopsis \| Image Gallery\|Press Packet (PDF) "5 'til 12 is an immersive narrative installation that explores the fragile human ego using evolutionary algorithms and game-theory. Through user identification technology, interactive video-based characters with complex personalities develop in direct response to audience participation over the 2- month duration of the exhibition."
Nicking the Never (2004) Marina Zurkow	March 29, 2006-May 6, 2006 Opening reception: March 28, 2006 6-9 pm Synopsis \|Image Gallery \| Press Packet (PDF) "Nicking the Never" is a multilinear installation, a set of allegories about a young girl who's stuck in a kinetic world of emotional pitfalls. This kaleidoscopic trip into the self is based in the structure of the Tibetan Wheel of Life, a Buddhist teaching tool whose images luridly and vividly divide the human struggle into seven parts: need, jealousy, complacence, aggression, desire, ego, and drive. Borrowing this taxonomy, seven discrete emotional realms play out on seven screens, arranged as a labyrinth. Located sound spatially orients the viewer to the narrative rises and falls within each screen. The viewer drifts through the looping and color-coded realms, immersed in a contemplative and sometimes humorous space.
